Awareness for students from Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai


An  awareness program on addiction and addiction related topics like HIV was conducted for 38 students of Nirmala Niketan,Mumbai The program was conducted by Mrs. Lakshmi and supported by Mr. Burton. Two in-house clients shared their life stories. The documentary  "God's Grace" a  film on Kripa  was screened.The program ended with a question and answer session.

Fr.Joe & team conduct an awareness program for students from Bhopal -MP

An awareness program was conducted on 16th April 2012 for 32 students of B.S.S. (Bhopal School of Social Sciences) College, Bhopal (MP), students of Arts (Social Work). The program was conducted by Fr. Joe, Mrs. Lakshmi and Mr. Kirk with two clients sharing their experiences of addiction. The program ended with the filming of Kripa documentary "Gods Grace" . This field trip to Kripa Bandra was co-ordinated by Ms. Sheeba Joseph HOD, Social work BSSS, Bhopal.

Kripa and TISS conduct workshop "Evolving partnership between Police and NGO's for Prevention of Substance Abuse

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON ‘EVOLVING PARTERSHIPS BETWEEN POLICE AND NGOs FOR PREVENTION OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE

The students of Tata Institute of Social Sciences anchored by their Criminology and Justice department organized a workshop on 11th April 2012 at the old conference hall of TISS for Police and NGOs on the subject of Prevention of Substance Abuse.

The aim of this workshop was to foster a sound relationship with the Mumbai Police and Civil Society to understand the many issues involved in dealing with addicts, its effect on their families and society.

Mr. Khaire, Senior Police Inspector from Trombay police station and Senior Police Inspector Mr. Agrawal of Shivaji Nagar Police station were present along with 5 police officers from the police stations of Trombay, Shivaji Nagar, Mankhurd, Govandi and Deonar. Mr Didar Singh, ACP Trombay Division was the resource person along with Mr. Fulsing Pawar, Supervisor from the Deonar Police Station.

Also present at this workshop were members of the mohalla committee, social workers from NGOs and policemen.

Due to prior commitments of Fr. Joe Pereira. Managing Trustee Kripa Foundation, Mr. Rajan Welingkar resource person from Kripa under the guidance of Dr. Snehal Mehta, explained the methodology of the Kripa model in dealing with chemical dependents, street children and their rehabilitation programs.

Mr. Didar Singh and Mr. Fulsing Powar spoke about the N.D.P.S. Act and the legal issues in dealing with addicts especially during the withdrawal stage while in police custody.

The workshop was organized by students Abhilasha Sood, Mithilesh Kumar, Nagesh Anand, and Ben Longchar under Supervisor- Ms. Ruchi Sinha. A total number of 30 participants were present for the workshop.
