Satsang with Kripa Goa Family- A farewell song.

On the night before the yoga camp ended there was sadness in the air as the first yoga workshop at the Kripa Yoga sanctuary was coming to an end. Sensing this Fr. Joe immediately arranged a get- together of yoga participants, patients and staff. a variety of entertainment of singing by Fr. Joe, Bosco few patients Anne with a duet with Karen and the superb Karen on the saxophone, brightened the spirits of all who gathered under the mango trees on that full moon night. It was indeed a memorial night which will surely be cherished for a long time.

Fr. Joe caring for his flock.....Mending their bodies back to life.

15th Jan'2014: Today exactly at 3.48 pm the entire Yoga workshop class that is in progress at the Kripa Yoga sanctuary stood still and watched as Fr. Joe was working on Bosco who has had multiple fractures in both his femurs and a left forearm. Frightened  at first he let go and let Fr. Joe swirl  his body to the asanas as easy as a Musician waving his Baton. Said Bosco "  When I was hanging upside down for three minutes.. I could see my childhood where we would hang on mango trees upside down like bats. i never ever thought I would do that again, I always envied how everyone would be doing these asanas but could never do so because of the steel in my body..Thanks to Dr Vivek Shetty of Hinduja Hospital who operated on me.....But a life long gratitude to Fr. Joe for showing me that their is life beyond Medicine....Thats Yoga."

However at Kripa Goa its heart warming to see the yoga group participants, patients and staff come in folded hands to pay worship and listen to "THE WORD" as Fr. Joe celebrates the Holy Eucharist with them. Its soul tendering to hear Fr. Joe speak the Gospel related to today and co-relate the same on how one could apply it to their recovery program. This daily mass is accompanied by the powerful singing in English and Konkani led by Paul Naronha.

Few are aware that far from being just a paradise for ravers and pill poppers this village has a rich historical background. The word ‘Anjuna’ itself is derived from the Arabic word ‘Hanjuman’ which translates into ‘Chamber of commerce’. Anjuna was once upon a time an important trading post for the Arabs in India.

The village was later ceded to the Portuguese by the Bijapur sultans in 1543. Anjuna has produced a series of outstanding personalities, But the most famous of them probably the Venerable Fr. Angelo. Fr. Angelo Gustav De souza was born in this village and later joined the Missionary Society of Pilar where he earned a name for himself.

Where historical monuments are concerned, two buildings stand out: One is the church of ST. Michael and the other is the Albuquerque Mansion. ST. Michael’s church was first established in 1603 and later rebuilt on a grander scale in 1613.

The Albuquerque Mansion is often called the ‘pride of Anjuna’. This palatial house was built by Dr. Manuel Albuquerque, an expatriate Goan who served as a doctor in the kingdom of Zanzibar. This property has been gifted to Fr. Joe H Pereira, Founder Managing Trustee of Kripa Foundation .

Every year Fr. Joe conducts Intense Iyengar Yoga for participants from all over the world . This year the first group to arrive is Sima's group from Canada and joined by participants from Canada, Brazil, Ukraine, Russia, Mumbai and Goa.
Fr. Joe Blessed, inaugurated  the new renovated staying facilities in the presence of the participants
