The day’s programme began with the patients being treated to a healthy breakfast and snacks followed by a sports festival, which included cricket and table tennis matches.

He later inaugurated the match by hitting a run off the bowling from Mr. Bosco D’Souza, National Programme Director.

The two teams participated with plenty of vigour and enthusiasm. The players were egged on by their respective supporters, which provided a charged up and festive atmosphere to the proceedings.

It did not really matter which team won or which lost, as both were the winners according to Fr. Joe. “Both teams tried their best and I congratulate the participants from both the visiting Bandra Centre and the Vasai Centre,” Fr. Joe stated after the match.

Later the players from both centres let their hair down as they danced to the tunes from popular songs.

The dancing helped the participant build up a huge appetite and the kitchen team did not disappoint them as they laid out a sumptuous, lip-smacking spread which was enjoyed by one and all.

Fr. Joe’s family members from three generations were also present on the occasion and had lunch with him.

While bidding farewell to all, Fr. Joe proposed that another celebration of this kind will be held at the Bandra Centre on November 14, 2013.
