International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficing Observed Nation Wide by Kripa -Section Goa



An Awareness Programme on" INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE & ILLICIT TRAFFICKING " was held on Tuesday 26th June 2012 at St.Jerome's Parish Hall, Mapusa, Goa. It was Presided over by Dr.Rajesh Dhume, Sr.Psychiatrist, Directorate of Health Services, North Goa and DR. Jayadev Sarangi IAS, Excise Commissioner of Goa, the Guest of Honour.



 Despite incessant rains there were around 80 Guest, Families, Ex-Kripa Patients, AA/NA Members.which also included The Haroon Family Memebrs, Mr. Humza, Dr.Saramento Gomes.



 Dr.Anand Chaudhuri introduced the Guest of Honors and explained to the audience the importance of this marker day. Dr.Sarangi in his addresss to the audience said though he was a Civil Servant as a Professional, He was married to a Cause of this nature, especially the Prison Reform System which he imitated at Tihar Jail and has  now progressed. He mentioned this  could only be done after sensitizing the Law enforcement agencies, the Judiciary & other Govt. Depts about  the gravity with which Drug & Alcohol Addiction could be managed. This Model was was replicated by him in other South East Asian Countries through UNODC when he was on deputation."



" Dr.Rajesh Dhume, spoke of the long partnership between the Directorate of Health Services of Goa & Kripa Foundation in the Treatment & Rehabilitative Services and said it was not enough to combat this menace. Members of the Civil Society, Law Enforcement Agencies, Recovering Addicts too need to join hands, if Goa is to be made Drug Free State through  awareness, outreach & educative Programmes,

The awareness also include testimonies by our Ex-Patients & a co-dependents. There was a Power Point Presentation on the Kripa Activities & Documentary of 'God Grace'. Entertainment by ex-Patients with Magic Show, Songs etc raised the exuberance of the festive-like occasion.

Simultaneously on the same day a drawing competition was held at Kripa anjuna for students from various schools. Certificates of participation an prizes to the winners were distributed.

International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficing Observed Nation Wide by Kripa -Section Bareilly


.A rally of about 200 children who participated in the programme was taken through the villages for about an hour, in which the Children carried placards and shouted slogans that they would never get involved in drugs and would be healthy future citizen.
The children were explained the ill-effects of drugs on each organ of the body by Dr. Amit Davis of Enlargan Hospital, a project run by the diocese of Bareilly. He also spoke of the ill-effects on the family life, society and the financial problem that is caused by drugs. He told children to be cautious about getting trapped in drug abuse and the healthy& beautiful life they could live without drug. Sister Lizzi, a social worker along with her staff took an active part in the programme. They composed and sang songs on the good work of the organization and explained the drug scene, its ill-effects and prevention by means of an interactive session.
The children were very co-operative and happy to participate by shouting slogans boldly & loudly as they passed though the villages. They promised to carry the message of the illness of addiction to there elders and neighbours in a loving and peaceful manner. The programme concluded with snacks and soft drinks and a vote of Thanks.

International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficing Observed Nation Wide by Kripa -Section Guwahati, Assam


On 26th June 2012, Kripa Assam in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Assam State AIDS Control Society & Narcotics Control Bureau performed Street plays in various locations of the city on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Ex-Clients, staff and interns of the centre took active part in the event
A Panel meeting was also organized by Assam State AIDS Control Society, Department of Social Welfare, Assam with support from Kripa Assam and other NGOs. Discussions were on harmful behaviour of injecting drug users, rehabilitation programme for drug users and NGOs must come forward to make this a reality.

International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficing Observed Nation Wide by Kripa and NCB -Section Dharavi, Mumbai.


Kripa Dharavi commemorated International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26thJune 2012. The programme started with a rally, flagged off by Senior Inspector, Mr. Nandkumar Mehetar, and well attended by around 300 students from five schools of the area, local leaders, members from other NGOs and staff and beneficiaries of the Centre. There were also a display and distribution of IEC materials. The Chief Guest of the function was A.C.P. Mr. Hemant Patil.
After the rally, the participants adjourned to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Hall. The students of the schools put up Street plays and Slogans competitions and the winners were awarded trophies. Certificates of participation were also given out.
Speeches on the harmful effects of drugs and its effects on the family and society were also given to the participants. The programmes ended with snacks and refreshments served to all.

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Observed Nation wide in collaboration with NCB- Section Bandra.







Kripa Foundation along with the rest of the world  observed 26th June -International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking in collaboration with various agencies namely Narcotic Control Bureau by holding rally, procession against drug abuse, poster presentations  highlighting drug abuse prevention strategy, rehabilitation for drug users,  etc.
Kripa Bandra observed the day at 3 different locations  1.Dadar railway station along with ANC -Worli unit and NCB.  2. Rajiv Gandhi sea link Worli end and 3.Carter road promenade and amphi-theatre with Celebrate Bandra.

The highlight of the day long program was a visit by Mr. Vijay Kumar, Director General- Narcotic Control Bureau - South Western Region. accompanied by Mr. Khan and Mr. Tiwari of NCB, also present was PSI Gadage of ANC- Worli Unit. Mr. Vijay Kumar canvassed in the scourching sun on the sealink and even distributed handbills to the passing motorist. The team placed posters and banners on strategic points to attract maximum attention from the travellers.

The evening program on the carter promande was a grand success with the team enacting street plays, poster displays and distribution of handbills. the event was presided by Mr. Fernandes and Mr. Khan of NCB.
A special note of gratitude to Brett, Rajan and the team of Kripa Bandra for their efforts during this whole week of campaigning.

Fr. Joe conducts Intense Yoga in Bergelingen, Germany







         Bergalingen in Germany is about 800 mt  high, it's on the Southern end of the Black Forest on the border to Switzerland, having a beautiful view of the Alpes.

         Kripa Foudation Iyengar Yoga Germany meets at Heidevur ,Bergelingen with Students from all over Europe: Switzerland, Poland and Ireland, which also included  a participant from America.
        After 18 and 16 years respectively and  being personally trained by Fr. Joe, two Kripa Family Members in Germany are now authorised to teach Kripafoundation Iyengar Yoga, Silvia Maria Braucks and Waltraude Eckert, and earlier Jim Pope from Toronto who is associated with Fr. Joe for 20 years. 
        The Intensive includes portions of the forthcoming book of Fr. Joe on Iyengar Yoga for Addiction Recovery.

Kripa Kick Starts International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking with Awareness Drive Week along with Anti Narcotic Cell, Worli Unit Mumbai.


The build up towards 26th June, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking started off with Kripa Bandra in collaboration with the Anti Narcotics Cell, Worli Unit, Mumbai, holding an awareness program at the Mahalaxmi Railway Station.

The program, specially designed by the new awareness team of Kripa Bandra staff consisting of Rajan, Brett, Newton, Akshay, Praveen, Rohan and supported b
y Ricki and Augustus, consist of street plays, distribution of IC material, poster presentation, one to one information exchange, history of Kripa and the integration of
addiction, HIV care and yoga by Fr. Joe over the years.


The Kripa team was well supported by the Anti Narcotics Cell, Worli Unit with a huge presence of active participation at the venue consisting of PI.
Rajendra Sangle, PI. V.D. Badade, PSI. B. Ghadage, PSI Sankapal, along with Woman Head
Constable Manisha M Pawaskar, Constables Shinde, Dhanwade, Shegar, Ghosalkar,Mane,Mandhare and
transport logistic by Jhadav.


This whole week  awareness programs have been scheduled which will culminate with the programme on the 26th at the famous amphi- theatre at Carter Road promenade, Bandra, Mumbai, supported by the Narcotics Control Bureau, Mumbai and Celebrate Bandra Trust.

The planning of these programs are the efforts of Fr. Joe Pereira Managing Trustee, co-coordinating daily from Germany and is being  executed by the team of Dr. S. Mehta, Ms. Krishna Iyer, Stephen,Brett, Bosco along with logistic support from Selwyn, Merwyn and Solomon of Kripa Bandra.
