Awareness Programme at St. Aloysius College
 
In view of the alarming rise of drug intake among students, the college authorities of St. Aloysius College requested Kripa Mangalore to conduct an awareness programme for students of St. Aloysius College.
 
Accordingly on 12th, 14th & 16th September 2013, the resource team spoke at length on Addiction, Kripa Model of Recovery and also shared their personal life experiences that took them to the depths of addiction and how through the timely intervention of Kripa; they were free from the bondage and slavery of addiction. These testimonies had the students glued to their seats. In their feedback, they told the Resource Team that they will refrain from situations that may lead them into an addictive lifestyle. They also promised to be good citizens and help the organization in their good cause.

Awareness Programme for General Community
 
On 24th September 2013, Kripa Bareilly conducted an Awareness Programme for Alcoholics and Social Workers at Holy Family Social Center, a project of the Diocese of Bareilly at Anola.
 
Topics on Disease Concept and Kripa Model of Recovery were covered in details. The purpose of the programme was to start Self Help groups organized by the Social Workers who work in the field of addiction with the help and support of Kripa Bareilly.

Orientaton to Msw Students n Addiction by Kripa Pune

Orientation for MSW Students
On 16th September 2013, Kripa Pune conducted an Orientation Programme for around 18 MSW Students of Karve Institute.
The students were conducted on a tour of the centre and explained the various aspects of addiction among other related topics. Being MSW students, they displayed a keen interest in the type of awareness programmes the organization conducts for the community and were suggested in future to be present as onlookers.

Awareness in the city- Krpa Vasai

On 17th September 2013, Kripa Vasai conducted awareness programme for autorickshaw drivers and organizers of the Ganeshotsav Mandal, Vasai East and Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav  Mandal, Satiwali.
Pamphlets were distributed to the auto rickshaw drivers on a large scale and Head bands were distributed to the organizers of the Mandal. An overview of Kripa Foundation, VRACS and Kripa Nursing Home were given to them. The organizers promised to help the resource team in conducting upcoming awareness programmes in the area.

Krpa Foundation Day also celebrated at Kripa

 
 
On 15th August 2013, Kripa Mangalore celebrated its 32nd Anniversary at the centre itself. The day being Independence Day; flag hoisting was done followed by speeches and singing of the National Anthem.
 
Activities included games, music and other forms of entertainment. Snacks and Lunch were served to all. Many Ex-Patients and Well wishers participated in the programme who spoke on the good work of the organization and the ‘Gift of Sobriety’ in bringing about changes in lifestyle.

Awareness by Kripa Zunheboto for School Students

 
 
Awareness Programme with students of Corner Stone School
 
On 31st August 2013, Kripa Zunheboto conducted an awareness programme for students of Corner Stone School.
 
The students were sensitized on the ill effects of drugs and alcohol. The teachers were also told to be Role Model to the students and were explained different aspects of addiction. The school authorities gifted the centre a hamper with groceries for the patients of the centre.

Awareness Programme for College Students
 
In accordance with a request, Kripa Mangalore conducted an Awareness Programme for around 300 students of St. Aloysius College on 06th September 2013 in view of the alarming increase in the use of drug among college students.
 
 
The team spoke on addiction; its harmful effects and consequences and shared their life experiences and the havoc that were caused in their lives. It was very impressing to see the students vow to concentrate on their studies and not even to step on the path of addiction.

A small documentary was screened followed by queries from the students. Patients and Staff shared their testimonies. The students gave an excellent feedback and promised to refrain from addictive substances. It has been proposed to conduct more programmes on a regular basis.

Awareness program St. Xaviers College Mumba by Kripa Bandra

 
 
Kripa Foundation, Bandra was invited by The St. Xavier’s High School, Bhandup to conduct awareness program on Alcohol / Drug Addiction.  On 21st Sept. 2013, about 40 conformation students participated in session conducted at St. Xavier’s High School by the resource persons from Kripa Bandra.
 
After a brief introduction by Fr. Joel Pinto, The student were made aware about Alcohol / Drug Addiction, disease concept, vulnerability, factors leading to addiction, treatment and also about the Kripa Model of Recovery. Audio-Visual presentation by resource person and sharing of own experiences by two inmates made the session more informative for the students.  The session concluded with curious questions of students were answered by faculty in concluding session.

Awareness Programme at a Bus Depot by Kripa Vasai


In response to  requests from Social workers to have repeated programmes at Vasai Bus Depot, Kripa Vasai responded by conducting an awareness programme on 12th September 2013.
 
The In-house patients and staff put in strenuous efforts in incessantly distributing leaflets to auto rickshaw drivers, shop keepers and community members. Information on Kripa, VRACS, Kripa Nursing Home were given out. Banners and Posters were also displayed.

On 27th August 2013, Kripa Zunheboto in collaboration with CCFZ conducted a Fellowship prayer and a talk on Drug Abuse and Treatment facilities of the centre for Community members of DC Hill Colony.
 
It was an enriching experience as the participants could understand the disease of addiction and alcoholism and the need for timely intervention. The patients of the centre shared their life experiences. The programme concluded with prayer service.

Orientation Programme for Students
 
On 30th August 2013, BSW AND MSW students of Assam Institute of Advanced Studies visited Kripa Assam for an Orientation Programme. They were made aware of the various aspects of addiction, substance abuse and Kripa Model of Recoery.
 
Sharing of life experiences made the students aware of the dangers of addiction as evident from the feedback received. They promised to spread the message of Kripa among family, friends and peers.

Health Camp Programme
On 14th July 2013, Kripa Darjeeling took active part in the Health Camp programme at Salu Division of Marybong Tea Estate, Darjeeling organised by Chai Project.
An awareness stall well displayed with pictures on the evils of addiction was set up. Volunteers of the centre distributed pamphlets bearing messages on HIV, Addiction and its prevention. Many people visited the stall and sought information on the activities and facilities of the organisation

Employee Assistance Awareness Programme - by Kripa Bareilly


Employee Assistance Programme
 
In response to a call from the management of Hindustan Petroleum, Kripa Bareilly conducted an Employee Assistance Programme at Hindustan Petroleum, Aonla for their officers, supervisors and employees of other categories on 10th September 2013.
 
They were informed about the various EAP conducted by Kripa for other industries and the benefits received by the employees. Focus was made on the Kripa Model of Recovery and various aspects of addiction, High Risk Behaviour, HIV and the like.
 
 The Management has proposed with the help of Kripa Bareilly and other industries to start Self Help Groups in the near future.

Awareness for Students
 
An Awareness Programme was conducted for students of Bishop Mondol School, Bareilly on 07th September 2013. Kripa Bareilly spoke on Addiction as an Illness and Kripa Model of Recovery. Medical aspects of addiction and Ill-effects of drugs on the individual and family were also covered.
 
The students asked posed many queries that was successfully answered by the Resource Team

Art based therapy- Kripa Darjeeling


Art Based Therapy
 
As part of Art Based Therapy (ABT), a workshop was held in Kripa Darjeeling for the patients on 15th July 2013. Mrs. Nandita Das from Siliguri of PD Lite Company was the resource person. A brief description about the importance of art and craft and its effect on the self was explained.
 
She also demonstrated the mixture of colours, shapes out of putty, crayon paintings. It was a three hours workshop and the patients did creative and excellent work.

Bandra Fair Celebrations- A Kripa Bandra Presentation


Bandra Fair Celebrations

Once again on 12th Sept. 2013, Just B’Cause, a social service group, (ex-students of St. Xavier’s College) organized, as they do every year, annual Bandra Feast Function for around 1200 special children from various orphanages and schools of Mumbai.
 
Some of the NGOs and other social service organizations that participated in the event included: Helpers of Mary, Shanti Dham, Sneha Sadan, Mother Teresa’s Roses, AK Munshi Yojana, Amchi Kholi, New Life International- which marked its maiden presence at the event, Nivaara, Aseema, New Kantwadi, the Spastic Society of India and our very own children from Kripa Dharavi.
 
The program began with the arrival of the children who inspite of physical challenges, showed enthusiasm and looked forward to a day of fun filled excitement. After a few refreshments, a DJ regaled these kids and their teachers by playing the latest Bollywood hits encouraging them into free-style dancing, singing and other myriad attractions lined up for the day.
 
Some of the attractions of the day included dancing along with “Doreman” and “Sherkhan”, the cartoon characters who entertained the children till the end. Besides games and dancing, there were tattoo artists, nail-painting, a magic show and “Charlie Chaplin” who aroused hearty laughter and stole children’s hearts.
 
The children were delighted to be treated to unlimited rides on giant wheels, merry- go- rounds and many other joy rides.
 
Children and their accompanying teachers and volunteers were also treated to a hearty lunch, sweets, soft drinks and ice-cream. This was then followed by various games and winners were awarded prizes. Those who could not make it to win the prizes in games were also happy as each child was given a gift-hamper before they left.
 
Volunteers from the Kripa Bandra family kept up the tempo of the party by showcasing their own talents such as dancing and comedy actions, which were widely appreciated by the children and adults.
 
This annual event was the 29th such to be held consequently since 1984, organized by JustB’Cause and hosted by the Kripa Foundation.

Orientation Programme for Students
On 05th September 2013, Kripa Bandra conducted an Orientation Programme for around 30 Students of II year MBBS of Grant Medical College.
The programme was initiated by Fr. Joe Pereira who explained to them the vision, mission of the organization and the Kripa Model of Recovery. Sessions on Disease Concept and the treatment module was also explained to them. Inmates of the centre shared their life experiences; the downfall that addiction that cause them and how Kripa brought them on the path of Spiritual Recovery. Various queries of the students were answered by the team.  The students thanked the team for the efforts put in and promised to visit them. A few of them even volunteered to interact with the patients and help out whenever possible

On 21st August 2013, Kripa Shillong conducted a Sensitization Programme for around 40 MSW students of St. Edmund College.

Kripa Shillong conducted a Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Alcoholism and HIV AIDS at St. Xavier School, Demthring on 06th August 2013 for around 120 students.
 
The students were sensitized on topics like myths and misconceptions, different types of drugs used, Kripa Model of Recovery and the importance of therapeutic interventions, Basics of HIV and Prevention, Importance of Self Help Groups. There was also a question-answer session.
 
The students were happy to have participated in such an informative session.

Awareness for General Community
 
In accordance with a request from eminent members of the General Community, Kripa Shillong conducted an Awareness Programme on Substance abuse and HIV AIDS on 09th August 2013 for around 60 community members.
 
A role play depicting the evils of addiction; its relation to HIV AIDS and role of an addict was enacted by the placement students of the centre. The film, ‘God’s Grace’ was screened followed by life experiences and question-answer session.

On 20th July 2013, Kripa Shillong conducted an Awareness Programme on Substance abuse and HIV-AIDS for around 150 students of Raid Laban College.
