A Jungian Experience -The Wounded Healer and Emerging Frontiers in Alcohol and Drug Addictions - A workshop by Dr. Ashok Bedi, M.D. and Dr. Dinshah Gagrat, M.D. along with Fr. Joe H Pereira





A very edifying and prolific workshop was organized by The Jung Center Mumbai, The Kripa Foundation and the USA India Jung Foundation on "Emerging Frontiers in Addiction Treatment" on the February 3 and 4, 2014. The two day workshop was facilitated by Ashok Bedi, M.D and Dinshah Gagrat M.D, themes like Crossing the Healing Zone – From Illness to Wellness, Emerging Frontiers in Eating Addictions, The Wounded Healer and Emerging Frontiers in Alcohol and Drug Addictions was well facilitated by Dr. Ashok Bedi, M.D. and Dr. Dinshah Gagrat, M.D. 

The workshop gave a lot of scope to the attendees to talk about their experiences and understanding related with the themes taken up with respect to their direct encounter with the chemically afflicted through sharing, discussion and case presentations. The workshop also gave counselors an insight on how they can work on themselves to be able to work well and effectively on the target population. 

The excerpts from Fr.Joe helped the attendees more profoundly to gauge the areas and patterns to be given glances for change as per the need and requirement of the whole therapeutic itinerary. Other psychologically therapeutic interventions were also taken up and introduced to the group addressed like Integrative Cognitive Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, etc.  

The facilitators held the attention of the attendees through out the workshop strongly and made it immensely appealing, by adding the twines of humor as an when they could find spaces in between which also included a self-created poem by Dr. Gagrat. The workshop had the instances of subtle work created by Fr. Joe and other facilitators which helped stabilize and hold on to the realms of positive energy around Also present at the worshop was Dr. Shoba and Mrs. Usha Bedi. A sincere Gratitude to Dr (Mrs.).Blanche Barnes of Dr.Leo Barnes Foundation at which the Jungian Workshop was held.

Fr. Joe speaks to Medical Students ...This Sunday afternoon



Just returning from a travel from Jodhpur and on his visit to Kripa Vasai, Fr. Joe took time off even from his yoga  to speak to interns from  medical college  on this Sunday afternoon for an interview that lasted for more than two hours. Said Fr. Joe “It is so important to speak to these medical students as today the patients coming in for treatment in Kripa are as low as 16 to 20 years, The Doctors are the first point of contact for these addicts, and If these future doctors give proper and clinical counselling they will help mankind to a very large scale and bring down the abuse of addiction in our country.”  Making the Global healing of kripa a reality.
These students who had travelled all the way from Kolhapur were alma maters of Rajashri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Government Medical College and Chhatrapati Pramila Raje Hospital. The interns were mesmerized as Fr. Joe explained the Kripa Model of treatment punching in between success case studies of the alcoholic, Families and children of addicts. He spoke of the journey from brokenness to wholeness to holiness. Fr. Joe further explained to the interns how even medical science is baffled with this unique blend of eastern discipline that’s yoga and the Alcoholic Anonymous Program.


The students were so overwhelmed by the knowledge that Fr. Joe shared with them and as they left one could hear them quip “ We don’t read about this in our medical journals’ and another “ Can’t believe that Fr. Joe is plus 72 years. He looks so young and energetic”. These students consisting of Aarti Kamath, Aditi Hinge, Jyoti singh, Saket Patil. Priyanka Singh Dasila. Sagar Wasule and Wasim Mujawar were interns of 111/1 MBBS and were accompanied by Dr. Hemant Patil our cooperator from Vasai Virar Mahanagar Palika.

Announcement of 25 years of Kripa Kolkata through a press conference


To commence the inauguration of the build up to 25 years of Kripa kolkata a press conference was held to highlight the presence and work of Kripa Foundation  Kolkata headed by Ms. Debjani Guha and her team. Ms. Guha addressed the well attended press personals about the the work that Fr. Joe H. Pereira ( recipient of the Padma Shree and many International and National awards) not only in West Bengal but Kripa's work   the healing Globally.

The speakers at this conferce were Ms, Debjani Guha, Dr. Sandeep Mitra, Ms. Pragati Surekha- Psychologist & Mr. Jayanta Dasgupta- Academician.
The print world acknowledged the great work that Kripa was doing to society and placed the press release in all major newspapers in West Bengal in various languages.

Fr. Joe rallies for a cause ..at a Rally conducted by Kripa Kolkata



KRIPA,KOLKATA ORGANISED A 3 KM RALLY AGAINST DRUG ADDICTION ON SATURDAY 08 FEBRUARY 2014 AT 10 AM AS THEIR FIRST EVENT TO CELEBRATE KRIPA FOUNDATION’S SILVER JUBILEE IN KOLKATA.
 MORE THAN 600 SCHOOL STUDENTS  ALONG WITH THEIR TEACHERS, AA/NA/FA MEMBERS AND GENERAL PUBLIC PARTICIPATED IN THE RALLY. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVENT WAS TO HAVE FR. JOE H. PEREIRA FOUNDER MANAGING TRUSTEE ALONG WITH MS. JHOBA GUHA OF KRIPA KOLKATA WALKED THE PATH WITH STAFF MEMBERS FROM KRIPA KOLKATA AND MUMBAI, .ACCOMPANIED BY THE POLICE BAND ,POLICE OFFICERS AND POLITICIANS.
THE PARTICIPANTS WERE  GIVEN  CAPS, REFRESHMENTS AND DRINKING WATER ALONG THE JOURNEY.. THE RALLY WAS WAS A GRAND SUCCESS WITH LIVE COVERAGE BY THE TELEVISION MEDIA  AND NEWSPAPER COVERAGE.

On Our road to Freedom.....Fr. Joe ( Dream Champion) at the Mumbai Marathon 2014

The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, abbreviated as SCMM, is an annual international marathon held in Mumbai,India, on the third Sunday of January every year. It is the largest marathon in Asia as well as the largest mass participation sporting event on the continent. It is the richest race in India with a prize pool of USD $350,000.
The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon has five different race categories: the Marathon (42.195 km/26.218 miles), the half marathon (21.097 km), the Dream Run (6 km), the Senior Citizens Race (4.3 km) and the Champions with Disability category (2.4 km).
This Marathon is just not an event for world's leading athletes, it is an event where people from all walks of life participate including Bollywood celebrities, Sports personalities, Business tycoons and other noted people
As every year Kripa Foundation headed by Dream Champion Rev Fr. Joe Pereira Founder Managing Trustee Kripa Foundation led the kripa team for the Dream Run Standard(6 Kms).( Fr. Joe was one of the largest fund collectors at the Mumbai Marathon 2014) Fr. Joe and the kripa team was supported by Dr. Surein John, His Family members and staff of Earnest John Group of Companies -Kripa's Main sponsors at the Mumbai Marathon. 
The team carried  banners, and voiced slogans all along the 9 km route spreading the awareness against the evils of Addiction and HIV. At the finish line Fr. Joe and Dr. Surein thanked all the team members for their participation and precious time to the good cause of Kripa. Indeed a memorial day that  will be cherished for a long time.
