Bandra Fair Celebrations- A Kripa Bandra Presentation

Bandra Fair Celebrations

Once again on 12th Sept. 2013, Just B’Cause, a social service group, (ex-students of St. Xavier’s College) organized, as they do every year, annual Bandra Feast Function for around 1200 special children from various orphanages and schools of Mumbai.

Some of the NGOs and other social service organizations that participated in the event included: Helpers of Mary, Shanti Dham, Sneha Sadan, Mother Teresa’s Roses, AK Munshi Yojana, Amchi Kholi, New Life International- which marked its maiden presence at the event, Nivaara, Aseema, New Kantwadi, the Spastic Society of India and our very own children from Kripa Dharavi.

The program began with the arrival of the children who inspite of physical challenges, showed enthusiasm and looked forward to a day of fun filled excitement. After a few refreshments, a DJ regaled these kids and their teachers by playing the latest Bollywood hits encouraging them into free-style dancing, singing and other myriad attractions lined up for the day.

Some of the attractions of the day included dancing along with “Doreman” and “Sherkhan”, the cartoon characters who entertained the children till the end. Besides games and dancing, there were tattoo artists, nail-painting, a magic show and “Charlie Chaplin” who aroused hearty laughter and stole children’s hearts.

The children were delighted to be treated to unlimited rides on giant wheels, merry- go- rounds and many other joy rides.

Children and their accompanying teachers and volunteers were also treated to a hearty lunch, sweets, soft drinks and ice-cream. This was then followed by various games and winners were awarded prizes. Those who could not make it to win the prizes in games were also happy as each child was given a gift-hamper before they left.

Volunteers from the Kripa Bandra family kept up the tempo of the party by showcasing their own talents such as dancing and comedy actions, which were widely appreciated by the children and adults.

This annual event was the 29th such to be held consequently since 1984, organized by JustB’Cause and hosted by the Kripa Foundation.
